JAZZ, CLASSICAL MUSIC AND THE ARTS IN NEW YORK CITY

Song of the Day 8/2/09

Every day, our top 666 songs of alltime countdown gets one step closer to #1. Sunday’s song is #360:

Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb

OK, this is supposed to be Obscure Music Central, and here we go with a classic rock standard. But every year, a new generation of kids discovers it – that hypnotic, slowly crescendoing David Gilmour intro, that visionary lyric:

When I was a child I had a feeling

Out of the corner of my eye

I turned to look but it was gone

I cannot put my finger on it now

The child has grown, the dream has gone

Download The Wall somewhere – the band isn’t getting any royalties from it.
